About-Old

We’re so grateful you’re here!

True Vine is a design company specializing in florals and creative direction.

We’re in love with flowers and believe they can add a depth of meaning and beauty to spaces that not many other things can. Whether you’re planning an event, an editorial shoot, or just need something that shows you care, we’d love to share our love of flowers with you.  Oh and PS, we travel.

MEET KAYLYN

Kaylyn Hewitt is the owner and creative director at True Vine. Kaylyn was born in San Jose, CA and raised in Rowlett, Texas. For as long as she can remember she’s been drawn to flowers and design. After graduating from Baylor University (go bears!), she moved to Boston, MA to pursue a career in child development. Loving her work, but not feeling as though she was the right fit for the industry, Kaylyn decided to end her pursuit of higher education and started dreaming of owning her own floral design company. After a year of dreaming and planning, she started 1956blooms and has been on this wild ride since.

Kaylyn likes to strike a balance between simple and complex. She believes in the subtleties and details of design and approaches each project as a way to highlight the character of her clients and what they love.

Outside of True Vine she loves music (tied with flowers), laughing with her friends and family, spending time in Texas, and finding new ways to fall in love with New England.

Thank you so much for visiting.

Meet the Team

Monika Pfistner is a Maine transplant who made her way to Massachusetts for school. She studied art and design at Gordon College, which led her into a wide variety of hands-on crafts. From woodworking to pottery, Monika loves trying out new disciplines, especially ones that provide engaging ways to create unique and welcoming spaces.   At True Vine, Monika has taken the same approach to florals. She especially loves the way they can transform and brighten a space. She also loves the simple joy that can be found in the complexity and natural beauty of flowers. When she is not at True Vine, Monika enjoys spending her time around the table with friends and good food, as well as enjoying the outdoors with her husband. She also makes sure to stay well-hydrated, and to spend lots of time in the sun. More than anything, this really helps her to relate to her work with plants.

Colleen Martell is one of the part-time/full-heart floral designers at True Vine. She was born in California, moved to Oregon as a small girl, and then went on to Arizona for high school, at which point she got her first job at Prescott Flower Shop. As an adult, and now a wife and mother of three, Colleen moved to Beantown with years of floral experience under her belt and began working at the Boston Flower Market.   Continuing to grow in love with everything pretty and green, she attended a Madewell Event that was hosting 1956blooms, where she met Kaylyn (Madewell: where amazing friendships are forged). A conversation sprouted over their mutual love and admiration for flowers. Since then, their friendship has only grown and their working relationship continues to blossom. (So many floral puns, guys--we can't help ourselves!) Outside of True Vine, Colleen loves to continue to explore the beautiful city of Boston with her husband and three sweet kiddos. She finds deep joy in sharing life with her tight-knit church community and finds she can call Boston home because of the people in it.

Rachel Ramirez hails from the San Francisco Bay Area, and has called Boston home for the past three years. She began her apprenticeship with Kaylyn shortly after discovering that they are kindred spirits, thanks to their shared love for florals and for singing along to musicals. As Rachel currently pursues a career in software development, she lends her web skills to True Vine. She's happiest when utilizing her editing, blogging, and organizational expertise, and is glad to be able to do so in the company of flowers.      When Rachel isn't with True Vine, she enjoys walking in forests, practicing calligraphy, and teaching herself to speak Dutch. Her favorite season is New England autumn and she can usually be found with coffee in hand.

Elizabeth Romeril is a part-time floral designer at True Vine. Born just north of Boston in New Ipswich, NH, she grew up immersed in bountiful gardens, from her Grandpa’s dahlia garden in Bethlehem, PA, to the Scotland countryside from her frequent childhood visits. A few years ago, she began taking classes to expand her skills in floral design. Elizabeth was hooked. Flowers continue to steal a piece of her heart, and she strives to strike a balance between her day job and her love of flowers. Her take is that flowers for every occasion deserve to shine as they do in nature. Life is beautiful, elegant, and slightly imperfect, but often it takes our breath away, and so should flowers. When not spending time at True Vine, or puttering in the garden with her dad, Elizabeth loves farmer’s markets, black coffee, doughnuts, spending quality time with family and friends, and traveling to places old and new.

Drawn to the city for its timeless charm and historic buildings, Britni loves exploring all of the different Boston neighborhoods and taste testing her way around the city to her inner foodie's delight. As an architect by day and florist by night, she is drawn to the details, pulling color, texture, and design inspiration from the historic context around her to make floral creations that can be enjoyed from every angle. What started as a single flower crown commission for a wedding last summer turned into a full fledged floral passion that is now a huge part of her life. Britni loves how much joy flowers can bring to anyone's day, and she hopes to continue to use floral design as a vehicle for spreading joy and encouragement to her local community. When she is not at True Vine, Britni can be found cooking with her roommates and church community, kayaking, swing dancing, and traveling to visit her friends and family around the country. She has a deep love for cupcakes, hammocks, and all things from Montana.
