This One Is A Favorite

From the very beginning, I knew this wedding at The Ranch at Laguna Beach was going to be special.

C & J came to us with a clear vision—one that felt thoughtful, timeless, and quietly unexpected. They had already built a beautiful foundation for the day, and my role was to create floral designs that felt like a natural extension of everything they had imagined.

Early in the design process, we floated the idea of an entirely yellow color palette for their spring wedding. Choosing one color is not something couples gravitate toward very often, but the more we explored it, the more it made sense. Yellow has the ability to feel joyful without being loud, sophisticated without feeling serious. When layered thoughtfully with texture and subtle tonal variation, it becomes something incredibly elegant.

Looking back, I’m so glad we took the leap. The finished design felt textural, fresh, and full of movement. More than anything, it felt celebratory—which is exactly what we hoped it would be.

Why We Love The Ranch At Laguna Beach

If you’re searching for a Southern California wedding venue, The Ranch at Laguna Beach deserves a spot at the top of your list.

One of the things I loved most about designing flowers here is that the venue never competes with the florals—it complements them. Nestled between the canyon walls and just moments from the ocean, the property feels surprisingly secluded. The mountains create an atmosphere that almost feels otherworldly, and as the marine layer rolls through the canyon, everything takes on the softest, dreamiest light.

As a florist, it’s an incredible canvas.

Rather than overwhelming the landscape, our goal was to create floral moments that felt like they naturally belonged there. The ceremony meadow offered the perfect setting for a garden-style installation, allowing the flowers to blend seamlessly with the surrounding greenery instead of competing with it.

The Ranch at Laguna Beach is one of those rare venues that works beautifully with almost any design style, whether you’re envisioning something understated and organic or a more elaborate floral installation. For couples who appreciate natural beauty, it’s hard to imagine a more inspiring setting.

The Floral Design

Because this wedding took place in March, we were able to take full advantage of some of spring’s most beautiful seasonal flowers.

Our designs combined locally grown blooms with carefully sourced flowers from trusted growers around the world. Supporting local flower farms whenever possible is always important to me, but I also love incorporating unique varieties that help bring each couple’s vision to life.

Since yellow was our primary color, creating depth and sophistication became the focus. I wanted the palette to feel layered rather than monochromatic, allowing subtle shifts in tone and texture to keep everything feeling elevated.

Some of my favorite ingredients included airy mustard blooms, delicate butterfly ranunculus, buttery garden roses, and plenty of yellow yarrow woven throughout the ceremony installation. The yarrow, in particular, became one of my favorite details. Its lace-like texture softened every arrangement and added movement that made the flowers feel almost as though they had grown naturally in the meadow.

Instead of relying on large statement flowers, we allowed each ingredient to contribute its own uniqueness. Together they created a composition that felt abundant yet effortless—a hallmark of the garden-inspired style I love creating.

A Spring Wedding That Felt Right at Home

One of my favorite parts of designing weddings is finding the balance between the flowers and the venue.

For this celebration, we didn’t want guests to notice where the landscape ended and the floral design began. Instead, we wanted everything to feel connected, as though the ceremony had simply appeared among the hills of Laguna Beach.

That’s the beauty of seasonal flowers. When they’re chosen thoughtfully and designed with intention, they enhance what’s already there instead of distracting from it.

Grateful for an Incredible Team

Beautiful weddings never happen because of one vendor—they happen because of an incredible team.

A huge thank you to Orange Blossom Special Events for guiding the day with such care and professionalism. It was a joy working alongside you.

And to Ariel Min, thank you for documenting every detail so beautifully. Your photographs captured not only the flowers, but the feeling of the day—the joy, the quiet moments, and the incredible love that surrounded C & J. Your work is truly magic.

After almost 12  years working with flowers, I can honestly say, I'm still not over them. This career has been the happiest accident of my life and I can't imagine  a life without flowers. What started out as hobby became my dream career. It has taken me all over the world, introduced me to new people and to new cultures, challenged me, and has given me the opportunity to be a fly on the wall to the most beautiful celebrations of love. It has been a joy.

This space is meant to share my work, but also a bit of my life. I've learned over the years that flowers make  their way into so much of what I do, in work and life,  so I'll be sharing that here! For a bit of floral inspiration or where we've traveled (what garden should we head to next?), head over to the blog. To work together (the sky's the limit), click below.  Thanks for being here.
