My Go To Floral Photography Tools
Last year I carved out a little space in our home to start taking photos of my floral arrangements. I spent afternoons designing, creating, and learning–it became the highlight of my week.
This year, I’ve been slow to start, but my afternoons are just around the corner, so I’m sharing some of my go to supplies for shooting flowers. I’ve been keeping this pretty simple, and I think that’s a great wau to start. It may evolve, I might start to add a few things, but these few items have served me so well over the past year.

The Back Drops
My go to back drops are from Chasing Stone. The colors are stunning and love how textural the backdrops are. They give great dimension on camera and are very easy to store.
If you’re looking to start out a bit smaller, I cant recommend foam boards enough. I bought a few of these and painted them in a few different colors. It’s an easy way to add color to your photos and if you have a brand colors, it’s a great way to have consistency in your imagery.
The Cameras
As you’re starting out, keep you camera choices super simple. I have added a film camera to my studio days and love how the photos add so much depth and texture to my portfolio.
And then, my trusty Iphone! Iphone lenses are really great and you can do so much with your phone camera. Feel no pressure to immediately go out and buy an expensive camera.
The Set Up
I use this Iphone tripod for iphone photograpy and video. It is sturdy and compact and such a good price.
This C Stand is for my painted Chasing Stone back drop and my foam boards. It’s also easily stored and is great for wider photos and tablescapes.
I hope you’ll get started on creating your own floral photography studio. It’s the perfect way to build out your portfolio how you’d like it and you’ll learn to exercise all sorts of creative muscles.
xx Kaylyn
